Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American Sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in 2016. The daughter of TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been for a long time, starting at her age of nine. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first position at Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was an Sports Reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009 she relocated from Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Covering stories related to drugs and immigration issues from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was an anchor on the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm, an anchor for the news channel with a news anchor in English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10pm, before returning to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. Anchor duties on sports and weather was often asked for. She was then anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given more responsibility. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She became a sports host for the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. The anchor also worked in similar roles on the magazine program of the network Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally of Veracruz Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. She has an elder sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. After a while the family split up, and in 1995 Fabio Fajardo was remarried. He died of kidney cancer in 2006. In the course of a family holiday in Ohio, younger Collins took a place along with her sister. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school, but was already aware of the things she wanted to accomplish. At the end of the day she was enthralled with the school. They also offered her a an academic major. She finished school and attended the university as a major in media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the director of WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a part. He encouraged her to have confidence and also his love for journalism deeply affected her. She, determined to live up to his standards and never let him down.
