Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14th in 1970) is an American actress and writer. Two-time Golden Globe Award-winning actor became well-known for her performances as Barbara on the CBS show One Day at a Time and Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland. She began her acting career as an early teenager, and through the years evolved into an established character actress. She was able to develop a passion for show business through a friendship with a daughter of a television producer as a young girl. Bertinelli was able to begin her career in television after studying at Tami Lynn School of Artists. With her confident poise and impressive acting talents, she carved a niche for herself soon and became a much desired television host. Her tumultuous private life and struggles with substance abuse earned her acclaim. With her New York Times Best-Selling Books she has written about the difficulties of her life. The multi-talented lady is engaged in a cooking contest called the Kids Baking Championship. The chubby teen turned sexual icon also serves as an advocate for Jenny Craig's weight loss plan.
